What is an electric surfboard, and how is it different from an eFoil?
An electric surfboard, also called a jet board, is a battery-powered board with a jet drive built inside it. The boards we teach on are Moovi electric surfboards, the brand we carry and sell. The motor pulls water in and pushes it out the back to drive you forward. You stand on the board, hold a wireless throttle, and set your speed with your thumb. The board stays on the surface the whole time, like surfing with the brakes off.
That is the key difference from an eFoil. An eFoil rides on a hydrofoil that lifts the whole board about a foot above the water, so you are balancing up in the air. An electric surfboard stays planted on the surface, so there is no balancing act while you learn. That is why it is the easiest powered board to pick up. It is also nothing like a jet ski. There is no gas, no engine noise, and no exposed propeller. The jet is sealed inside the board, which is one reason these are safe and approachable for first-timers. Balance and body position still matter, and a lesson gets you riding faster, safer, and with far less time spent falling than figuring it out alone. What you will learn during an electric surfboard lesson
Setup, safety, and the remote
How the board and battery go together, how the safety key cuts the motor the instant you let go, and how the wireless throttle controls your speed. We start you in a low-power beginner mode so the power comes on gentle and predictable, then build up only when you are ready.
The water start: getting to your feet
This is the one skill everything else builds on. You lie on the board and balance it flat in the water, then ease on a little throttle until you reach a steady cruising speed. A bit of speed is what gives you balance, the same way a moving bike is easier to balance than a still one. From there you come up to your knees, then your front foot, then stand, staying low and balanced with your chest facing forward and your weight slightly forward.
Riding position and steering
The stance that gives you control: feet planted across the deck, back straight, weight a touch forward on your front foot to stay solid, and a shift onto your back foot to turn. The two habits we fix most are leaning back and looking down. You steer by looking where you want to go and letting your shoulders follow.
Falling the right way (it is part of it)
Everyone falls early on, and it is exactly how you improve. We show you how to fall away from the board, to the side or back, so every spill is a harmless splash and you are back up and riding quickly.

Meet your instructor and gear up
You meet your instructor, get fitted with a flotation vest and the rest of your safety gear, and run through a short briefing on land before you head out.
Tutorial and safety
Your instructor shows you how the wireless remote works, explains how the board rides, and walks you through staying safe, including the most important habit: letting go of the remote the moment you fall so the motor cuts out.

What makes Biscayne Bay a great place to learn?
An electric surfboard does not need wind or waves, which makes Miami close to perfect for it. Biscayne Bay has miles of calm, protected flats, the water is warm all year, and the morning glass-off gives you the easiest possible conditions to learn in. How does an electric surfboard compare to an eFoil or a jet ski?
This is a question we get a lot, and the honest answer is that they are different rides for different goals.
An electric surfboard stays on the surface and feels like powered surfing. The board does the work of driving you forward, so you focus on balance and steering. It is the easiest entry point onto the water and a genuinely fun ride on its own.
An eFoil lifts you onto a hydrofoil and flies a foot above the surface. It is quiet and smooth, the closest thing to flying on water, but it asks more of you while you learn because you are balancing on a wing underwater.
